Rubbish and recycling
Rubbish collection
The Porirua City Council collects rubbish and recycling, using prepaid plastic bags that can be bought from the Council or from supermarkets. There are also private operators providing rubbish collection using wheelie bins.
The PCC rubbish collection day for Titahi Bay is (currently) Monday.
A door collection service is available for people with limited mobility due to disability or impairment. Contact Porirua City Council to register for this service.
Kerbside Recycling Collection
Each household has two recycling bins, for glass and other recyclables respectively. Check here for what can go into them, and what dates they are collected.
The nearest recycling depot is at the Spicer Landfill, with Trash Palace across the road for reusable items. There are also other recycling options for more difficult items.
Recycling stations
Where are the Bay's recycling stations for bottles, cardboard, etc? If you know of one, please let us know.
Clothing bins
Wellington-based Kiwi Community Assistance takes donations of food, clothing, and other items that can be distributed to people in need. It has two drop-off points in Porirua.
If you know of any others, please let us know.
Recycling other items
For information on how to recycle other items, including car batteries and computer hardware, visit Porirua City Council's recycling options pages.
